Iceland, Route 550

Thingvellir National Park is known for being home of the only above sea-level stretch of the Mid-Atlantic Rift separating the North American and Eurasian Plates. A short drive north out of the park, you'll escape the hustle and bustle of tourists and come across a seasonal lake named Sandkluftavatn. Route 550 splits this lake from the lava rock hills that make up the region.
